| Ellipses | |
| Description: | Draw a circle on board as well as an eccentric ellipse. |
| Notes: | Use a loop of string and the magnetic holder from the Blackboard Optics set. With the magnet on the board, draw a circle with the string attached to the screw at the center of the magnetic holder. Then loop the string around the loops and trace an ellipse from the two widely separated foci. |
| Location: | LDL Workbench. Use the larger magnetic holder from the blackboard optics set. This consists of two magnets connected with a Plexiglas bar Ask Jeff for a loop of string (hanging on the blackboard in his office). |
