Physics 103 Setup Details:
Motion With Constant Acceleration

All tracks inclined in the same direction,
facing the left side of the lab in Bewkes 204

Align tracks as shown so students don't
have to reach too far

A 2x4 clamped to the table holds
one end of the track

A drafting board wedged up against the
rod base holds the other end. Note that
board is offset slightly, so the height of
track can be measured (see photo below)

Use the photogate mounting bracket to attach photogate head to track. Remove photogate from timer, and attach to bracket using short screw shown

Slide the nut at the base of the bracket into
side groove of track (you'll need to remove lower bumper to get it on). Attach photogate to bracket as high up as it will go), and place near the 20 cm mark

The height from table top to track bottom
is set to 10.5 cm

Detail – note board offset.
