• One photgate time and accessory unit are necessary for the time-of-flight measurement. The custom jig is attached to the gates using velcro; be sure to pick the gates that already have velcro on them. The photogate is set to pulse mode.

• Large C-clamps are desired to prevent gun recoil on table; however, they keep disappearing. If none are available, students can mark initial position of gun on table using masking tape.

• The angled ramps can be clamped to the lab bench with a single, large bench clamp, afixed to the side of the base. This will limit the angle to greater than 30°; not a problem, since greater angles are desirable for an "easier" shot. 1x6 boards with a small "base" are available (they're with the guns); attach one board to each ramp with a small clamp. The base of the board keeps the gun from sliding off the ramp.

• On the lab computers, a shortcut can be made to the Excel spreadsheet Projectile Motion.xls (located in directory C:\lab data). Upon execution, the height, gun angle, minimum, average, and maximum velocity are input. A graph is displayed (on the "Graph" sheet) showing the projectile path for each velocity, and the range the ball will travel. This file is set to "read only".
