• Students will create a DC motor with a magnet, battery and copper wire.

  • Note #1:
    • If experiment set up in Bewkes 204, attach the spool of copper wire to the end of the short bench near the blackboard. The clamp is left on the bench, but the wire spool is left with the rod and end clamp; see photos for details.
    • If experiment set up in Bewkes 231, attach the spool of copper wire to the right end of the bench along the side wall, behind the door to the stockroom. The clamp is left on the bench, but the wire spool is left with the rod and end clamp; see photos for details.
    • Jeff will cut a double-arms length piece (about 2-meters) for each student before each lab.
  • Note #2: A neodymium magnet will be handed out to each student by the lab instructor before each lab. Don't leave these magnets sitting out on the benches!
