Abstract:

The object of this experiment was to analyze the chaotic behavior in an electronic analogue circuit. It is possible to show chaotic behavior by using a driven nonlinear oscillator. The nonlinear oscillator is composed of a function generator driving a series RLC circuit with a diode. The behavior of the circuit can be modeled since the experiment is an exactly solvable model of a system exhibiting chaotic behavior. In a range of 15 kHz to 120 kHz, using a 24 mH inductor, a variety of chaotic and period multiplying behavior is observed.
