Optical Upconversion in an Er:YLF Doped Crystal
Daniel Montbriand
Abstract:
The unusual optical properties of rare earth doped fluoride glasses and crystals make them an ever increasing subject of experimentation. In this particular experiment, an Er:YLF crystal's optical properties were evaluated in the hopes of detecting optical upconversion. The Er:YLF crystal consists of the trivalent Er3+ as a dopant in a Yttrium Lighium Fluoride crystal.
