Abstract:

The resistivity (resp. Hall) weighting function describes the sensitivity of four-wire resistance (resp. Hall voltage) measurements to local inhomogeneities in the resistivity (resp. Hall angle) of the specimen. We directly measure the resistivity weighting function for a square specimen of GaAs, and the Hall weighting function for specimens of bismuth with square and cloverleaf geometry. Our results agree well with predictions.
