Abstract:
We modeled the electrical behavior of a banana by sending a current through it and measuring the voltage drop across it. Using an AC current we can see the resistance of the banana and the capacitance of the banana as a function of frequency. Our results show that perhaps not the closest model, but the most convenient model is a variable capacitor in parallel with a resistor, where the capacitor depends on frequency. We found that the resistivity of a yellow banana is approximately 90 Ωm, and the permittivity is approximately 340 nF/m.
