Abstract:

The palladium hydrogen system was studied by looking at thin films, large pieces, and computer modeling. Using the large piece, the values for the constant in the absorption equation were found to be α = 1.15 and β = 42.5. These values were shown to be correct when compared to the computer modeling of the diffusions of hydrogen. The thin film showed how the resistance of palladium drops as hydrogen is exposed to it from annealing.
