Diffraction & Interference: Limits of Vision Setup

Room setup. Note boxes with optical bench accessories
are placed on side bench

Tubular bulb, with 2–m stick
Use an old lab stool to hold variac

Align meter sticks on floor in
line with bulb

Secure meter sticks with masking tape
every 0.5 m

Note that meter sticks start directly
under the bulb, not at the wall!
Mark distance every 0.5 m on the masking tape
(work boots optional)

Place two 2–m meter sticks and
a few 2×2 diffraction gratings on bench
