Notes for all tracks

8 Airtracks connected to overhead air supply
in Bewkes 231
Align all tracks along the bench as shown so
students don't have to lean over too far

Each track is labeled (A, B, etc.);
Match track letter with hose letter. The cart number does not matter
Each hose ceiling outlet is labeled;
match hose with track letter

Hose secured to track with hose clamp
Jeff will put two electronic balances
on the side bench before each lab

Black Tracks & Black Carts

Black cart parts: spring bumper (2), thumb screws (2), flag,
nylon washer (2, resting on flag);
two - 50 g masses.

Black carts are numbered 1 through 4, and include the letter
of the track they will be placed upon (A through D).
Note that cart #2-B has a permanently attached flag
Black carts numbered 1 and 2 (left)are without bumpers;
Carts numbered 3 and 4 (right) have bumpers attached.
Four carts are placed on each black track

Silver Tracks & Gold Carts

Silver track with gold carts position
Place a drafting board under each silver track. Makes it easier to level.
Note that clamps and small board are not needed for this experiment

Gold carts are numbered 1-3 or 2-4, and include the letter
of the track they will be placed upon (E through G)
Gold carts are placed two on each track, and have opposing
velcro faces for inelastic collisions
