Notes:

• Setup location (photo details):
  • Note that all spectrometers face the front of the classroom. Light leaks in through the window blocks, so it's best if they face away from the windows
  • Spectrometers are labeled with letters; put them in the corresponding locations (this should help with future alignment)
  • The spectrometers are heavy, weighing around 12 kg = 26 lbs. Be careful when moving them
  • Keep spectrometers near edge of bench as shown; it's easier for students to read the vernier scales
  • A variac is now used at each setup
  • 5 lasers can be used in the lab as shown below. If the Astronomy lab (Bewkes 232) is available, 2 or 3 more lasers can be used there (Astro lab map)
